Backroom Brewery is Virginia's first farm brewery nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah River Valley. It began as an herb farm, growing culinary and medicinal herbs for the garden center trade. The herb farm, Sunflower Cottage, grows 120,000 potted herb plants each spring from seeds and cuttings to sell to other garden centers and to their own customers. In the fall of 2012, they built their hops field. In 2013 they began the process of creating an ordinance in Warren County to accommodate farm breweries. By late spring, the process was complete and Backroom Brewery became the first farm brewery in Virginia. Their first hop harvest in August of 2013 was bountiful. They were brewing in small batches and planning brewery construction. In the spring of 2014, the 900-sf brewery was completed and equipped with a 3 bbl, Premiere Stainless brewing system. They converted their original farm store into a tasting room and added a 900-sf enclosed pavilion for more seating. So now, this part of the facility consists the 1,200-sf tasting room / licensed commercial kitchen and brewpub, a 900-sf enclosed pavilion and the attached 900 sf brewery with a 3bbl brewhouse, keg washer and large walk-in cooler. A long draw system plus a large kegerator allow them to have 20 beers on tap in this building complex. In 2019 they built a 10,000-sf brewery, tasting room and event center. The event center has a 400-sf walk-in-cooler with 12 beers on an expandable tap-line. It also has a 40' live edge bar, large catering kitchen, 5 bathrooms, a conference room, executive office, and a 2,000-sf loft. In early 2021 they will add larger brewing and canning equipment so that they can put their delicious beer in stores around the region. They now have more than 25 beer recipes approved by the State of VA. Their beer has won awards every year since they began entering competitions. Backroom Brewery was named the most highly awarded brewery in Virginia by Virginia Craft Beer Magazine. No brewery had won as many awards at the Virginia Craft Beer Competition since Devil's Backbone in the very first competition. Their tasting room bustles, and their scratch kitchen cranks out delicious dishes prepared with their own fresh herbs and farm grown produce in season. In the spring, summer and fall, gardens abound, families enjoy the farm and the scenery. They host 5 annual events, BRB Craft Fest (January) The Virginia Herb Festival (June), Brewstock! (August) BRB Hop Harvest Party (September) and BRB Holiday Market (November). This offering is a unique opportunity to acquire an award-winning craft brewery and herb farm.
