Poplar Grove offers investors and developers a rare opportunity in Amherst, Virginia. The 941+ acre property includes PUD zoning, water rights and 86 of the 113 separately deeded lots of varying sizes surrounding the golf course. The 18-hole course is the only one Sam Snead designed with his son, in collaboration with Ed Carton, an alumnus of Tom Fazio's design business. Opened in 2004 in the Virginia hill country where Snead grew up, it reflects his later-career attention to the everyday golfer's experience. Existing assets include the historic Manor House, golf-support facilities and three commercial buildings totaling approximately 12,000 square feet. Blue Ridge views and proximity to Sweet Briar College and the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center would complement concepts that can be developed, such as a private golf club, residential or 55+ community, hospitality, event venue, village retail, vineyard, equestrian and wellness uses.
